The Institute of Trichologists gathered on Monday 13 November for their annual awards ceremony and a lively seminar programme.The venue for this prestigious event was the sumptuous 28 Portland Place in the middle of Fitzrovia and the proceedings took place under the supervision of Anita Ashcroft, Chairman of the Institute and Tracey Walker, Director of Education.
With more and more cases of Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia being diagnosed ever day, Dr Vicky Joliffe outlined the current thinking on symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. Particularly interesting was the possible link with sunscreen products, which is still under investigation.
PCOS could be the underlying cause of more that 70% of alopecia in women, according to Professor Stephen Franks who gave an informative talk on this complex and far-reaching condition.
