Anya Dellicompagni gives us the lowdown for spectacular AW17 BRIDAL HAIR

Stafford Bride

Autumn weddings are stunning, with fiery colours providing the perfect backdrop. However, cooler temperatures and humid air can all play havoc with our tresses, but you can ensure that your hair stays on point by following Anya’s top tips

Every bride wants to look and feel incredible on her wedding day. The colder weather during autumn/winter season can cause havoc with your hair, so it’s important to take extra care of it to avoid it drying out and becoming frizzy. Using hair masks regularly will help restore the moisture in hair as well as hair oils, which are great for hydrating and detangling the hair and smoothing down any flyaways.

When it’s time for the bride to have their bridal hair trial, it’s always a great idea to book this in the same day as the dress fitting and makeup trial. This gives the bride the chance to see the full look together rather than just on her wedding day, where she may decide she wants to change it with the dress and makeup, as the stylist has often left before the bride has put her dress on.

As the combination of the colder weather and central heating inside can be damaging for the hair, trying to stay away from heated styling tools and embracing an updo is the best choice for brides for the season. Buns and chignons are one of the most classic and on trend bridal hairstyles for the season and can be worn in so many different ways, whether it be low with sections of the hair left out for a more relaxed, effortless look or high and pulled back for a more sleek look. Another popular bridal hair trend for AW17 is the ponytail, which looks particularly great worn high with hair wrapped around the hair tie for a more sophisticated look. In any autumn/winter bridal updo you can also add hair accessories for a bit of sparkle! Whether it be diamante clips, brooches or headbands, these accessories are sure to add some glamour to any look.

 Hairstyles and cuts

There were so many different looks seen at the New York, London and Paris autumn/winter catwalks. Effortless hairstyles were one of the most on trend looks seen on the catwalks. Think loose, soft waves and bedhead hair for this look that require little to no styling. Side partings were another on trend hairstyle. Whether you wear your hair in gorgeous waves, big bouncy curls or poker straight, a side parting looks great and will instantly update the style. Ponytails also remain popular for the AW months and there are styles to suit everyone. Team your ponytail with a texture to make it look effortless or go for a super sleek ponytail style to give a chic statement. Accessorise your pony with a ribbon or scrunchy for extra glamour! Finally, sleek styles remain popular for AW17. Ensure your locks are oozing with health and shine for this look. For a statement going out look, add a strong gel and use it to gel all the hair off the face or sleek one side behind the ear. This look works best when it looks super shiny, so once the gel is dried, spray on a gloss spray to make it look mirror like.

Ultra long hair, which can be used by wearing extensions, remains popular for the AW months. However, shorter styles such as the shag and the blunt bob are styles that are said to be the most on trend haircuts for the colder months. The shag should hit just past the shoulders and looks even better when teamed up with layers and bangs. If you’re thinking of opting for a bob, think blunt and sharp and the more angular, the better! This look is stunning and is a great style to go for to get rid of split ends caused by the summer months.
