The Undone Bun

The undone bun is a perfect hairstyle for Christmas parties and is super easy to create. This look is particularly great as it works for every hair type, whether your hair is short or long, thin or thick. The key to this look is to avoid being too neat, as you want the finished look to appear undone and relaxed, so it’s important not to aim for perfection. This look also works best with hair that hasn’t been washed for a day or two, so that the hair has more texture and grip to allow for easier styling. However, If your hair is quite soft, you can simply mist some dry shampoo or texturising spray into your hair for added grip prior to styling. Once you have finished creating your bun, pull some pieces of hair loose around the face to give the look a messy vibe and to frame the face.

The Ponytail

Another one of our favourite Christmas party hairstyles that is easy to create at home is the ponytail. This hairstyle shouts playful, flirty and youthful. If you are thinking of going for a high ponytail, leave some hair or a fringe out to give the hairstyle a softer look and to frame the face. Add a texturising product to damp hair prior to blow-drying and creating your ponytail for a more effortless look. For a more elegant, sleek style, use flat irons on the hair prior to creating your ponytail and with the hair going into the hair tie, use some gel or serum to get rid of any flyaways and to make the hair look more polished. Hair accessories are a great way to compliment your ponytail. Use a ribbon to secure your ponytail together and give it an extra bit of edge or go for an embellished headband or bejewelled clip or brooch for some sparkle this Christmas!

Glamorous Hollywood Curls

If you’re looking to wear your hair down for your Christmas party, big, glam Hollywood curls are a always great hairstyle. The best way to create this look is by using hot rollers that will provide your hair with lots of body and volume. If you want curls that last through a night of dancing, then you need to let those hot rollers cool completely—which in experience can take up to a couple of hours for thick or long hair. The longer you leave them in the better the results! Be sure to finish with a strong hold volumising hairspray to give the hair extra oomph.

Sleek, Straight and Smooth

If curls aren’t for you, super straight and sleek hair is another great option if you prefer to wear your hair down for any Christmas parties. Adding a statement middle parting or deep side parting to a super straight look can also give the hairstyle added glamour. With this look it’s important to ensure you blow-dry your hair straight and then use hot irons to achieve a poker straight finish on your hair. Once you have worked your way around your hair, finish with a serum to give the hair a mirror like shine and to get rid of any frizz or flyaways.
