Read on for the amazing transformation of this week’s Doorstep Challenge by Randolph Grey!
Hair Magazine receives so many requests for makeovers that we felt it was about time we made a regular feature of them. For this month’s mission, we responded to a letter from mum Violet French, who told us about her daughter Debbie French. Debbie is 34, a mum of two and Clinic Coordinator at the Brighton Breast Clinic. Debbie’s role as a busy working mum means that she rarely puts herself first – and Violet thought it was about time she got spoilt!
1. Randolph pitches up.
Happy to help out, we got in touch with one of our favourite session stylists Randolph Grey, who agreed to pop round in his Porsche Boxster (no less), and surprise Debbie one morning after the school run!
2. Debbie’s Mum, Violet greets Randolph at the door.
Randolph was greeted by Violet at the door, who was just as excited as her daughter at the prospect of the makeover!
3. Violet breaks the news to daughter Debbie.
After her initial shock (and removal of rubber gloves!) Debbie was introduced to Randolph, who had just arrived fresh from the Paris Couture Shows.
4. Debbie meets Randolph.
5. Consultation Corner.
Starting immediately with the consultation, Randolph took into consideration suitability, practicality and visual impact, suggesting that Debbie could go a little shorter with her style.
6. Down to work.
7. It’s all in the cut.
“Debbie’s hair is medium density with really grown out layers, and although there is lots and lots of colour build up, it’s been well maintained. Without doubt Debbie’s hair would be enhanced if we lost a bit of length and tapered the hair to frame her face.”
8. The ultimate round brush blow-dry.
9. Pin Up Girl.
11. Barrel Tong throughout.
With Debbie in agreement, Randolph set to work cutting and then blow-drying Debbie’s hair – before setting it in big pin curls. Then with his BaByliss PRO styling tool, and L’Oréal’s Elnett hairspray, he tonged throughout. Make-up technician Sally applied the finishing touches, before a quick change into a stunning blue dress and the dressing out of the curls.
12. Let’s make up.
13. The Big Reveal.
The big reveal had mum Violet in tears – of joy! Debbie agreed and was left beaming with her new look. ‘This was such a lovely surprise – I feel really pampered and can’t wait to surprise the kids with my glam new look! Thank you Hair Magazine and Randolph for such a wonderful treat.’
14. Thumbs Up!
