The five days of Christmas

Five days…five ways

Want glamorous hair everyday this festive season? Long hair looks glamorous all week long with these versatile styling ideas from Tristan Eves

Curl Crazy

Is there anything more glamorous than a head full of tumbling curls? Here, clean hair was prepped with Kérastase Resistance Ciment Thermique, blow-dried and set on heated rollers. Once cool, the curls were teased out with the hands and lightly brushed through. To finish, Shu Uemura Art of Hair Sheer Lacquer adds natural hold that allows hair to move.

Aim high

Team a high ponytail with a soft quiff for a modern silhouette that’s more flattering than a super-sleek finish. Leave a triangular section of hair free at the front of the head before securing the rest in a neat ponytail at the crown. Then, gently backcomb the remaining hair to build workable volume before smoothing off the face and shaping into a quiff. Use grips or pins to secure well and loosen the hair in places for a less structured finish.

Tumbling down

Put the effort into getting the foundation right to ensure your updo turns heads every time. Kérastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste is the ideal shampoo for preparing the hair, leaving it clean and frizz-free with natural movement. Apply Shu Uemura Art of Hair Kaze Wave, then tong dried hair section by section, using a medium sized barrel. Once hair is curled, sweep up from the nape and secure at the crown. Next, tease sections to fall forwards, looping and pinning to tumble around the face and using your fingers to add texture.

Go large

Exaggerated volume really makes a statement – but you need to put in the prep to achieve a finish this neat. Mist freshly washed hair generously with Kerastase Volumifique before blow-drying, then neatly set sections on the largest Velcro rollers you can find to create gravity-defining lift at the roots. After removing, use a bristle brush to gently backcomb the front sections of hair, then sweep back neatly and secure with a covered elastic, before using your hands to work hair looser around the face. Spritz with hairspray to hold in place.

Smooth operator

A professional blow-dry can help add volume and movement that lasts days. It can be tricky to recreate the look at home but there are a few tricks you can try. Firstly, begin by Kérastase Resistance Ciment Thermique, which helps protect and smooth hair as you dry. Then, work on hair section by section, using a large barrel brush to lift from the roots and directing air flow down the hair shaft for the sleekest finish. Ensure hair is completely dry before moving on to the next section. One dried, tip head upside down and mist liberally with Shu Uemura Art of Hair Sheer Lacquer before brushing into place, using a little more spray to set hair around the face.
