Spring clean your hair….

Seasonal tips from Suzie McGill and Dylan Brittain, salon owners and Artistic Directors of Rainbow Room International as well as UK Schwarzkopf Ambassadors and current BHA Scottish Hairdressers of the Year

The winter months can leave hair dry and brittle, therefore, coming into spring, it’s the perfect time to spring clean your hair and give it the much needed nourishment and moisture it needs!

The first step to spring-cleaning your hair is to get a good trim from your hairdresser. A good trim will freshen up your locks and get rid of any split-ends, reducing the risk of hair breakage and making your hair feel and look instantly healthier.

Due to the dryness winter can cause on our hair, the next step is to invest is some quality moisturising products to get your hair back in its pristine condition. Try to look for moisturising shampoos and conditioners, like Schwarzkopf Professional’s BC Bonacure Moisture Kick Shampoo and Conditioner, as well as hair masks, like Schwarzkopf Professional’s BC Bonacure Moisture Kick Treatment, which can be used a couple of times a week to restore moisture and elasticity back into your hair and keep it looking and feeling shiny, smooth and more manageable. Try not to over shampoo the hair, as this can strip your hair of its natural oils, causing it to become extremely dried out and dull. Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp and moisturising hair products are a great way to give your hair and scalp the deep conditioning that they need. Deep conditioning is necessary for stronger hair follicles that create a strong foundation for your scalp and hair.

The next step for spring-cleaning your hair is to try to stay away from heated styling tools to give your hair a break and avoid causing further damage to your hair. If you do need to use any heated styling tools, always use a heat protection spray like Schwarzkopf Professional’s OSiS+ Flatliner Heat Protection Spray or Schwarzkopf’s got2b Guardian Angel heat protection spray, and when using flat irons, make sure they are clean and any dirt or grime has been wiped off them prior to being used to stop bacteria being spread onto your hair. Cleaning your brushes regularly is also important to get rid of old hair and any residue from products that can make your hair greasy.
