Trend Predictions for 2018 by
Suzie McGill and Dylan Brittain, salon owners and Artistic Directors of Rainbow Room International as well as UK Schwarzkopf Ambassadors and current BHA Scottish Hairdressers of the Year
At our Rainbow Room International salons we’re so excited to give our clients new haircuts and colours to see the New Year in style! Here are a few haircut, styles and colour trends we have predicted to be especially popular for 2018…
Sweet-like shades such as golden blondes, honeys and chocolates are set to be huge, as well as metallic blondes where clients can take their hair a bit lighter to freshen it up. If you’re looking for something bold and bright and a bit more ‘out there’ the Pantone Colour of the Year, Ultraviolet, is another hair shade that is going to take 2018 by storm. This year is all about inventiveness and imagination when it comes to hair colour and a creative inspiration that is indigenous to the new pantone Ultra Violet. This blue-based galaxy purple gives hair a mystic vibe and dark hair looks stunning in bold jewel tones with a rich dark purple colour and no matter what your eye colour is, this hue is sure to make them stand out beautifully.
To give your hair a fresh start, bobs are a great haircut to opt for and will be super on trend and will get rid of those dead ends before going into the New Year. Blunt cuts look great and work particularly well with a block fringe, however, avoid the blunt style if you have a round face shape and go for something a bit choppier and relaxed. The Ruby Rose hairstyle in particular is becoming more and more popular, where the hair has short graduation from the side and back with more length on top. This style is becoming popular, as it is such a versatile haircut and we love it!
In terms of hairstyles, low worn hairstyles such as low ponytails, hair twists, buns and topknots are to be popular, which look effortless and chic! As well as tousled, relaxed, effortless hairstyles that require minimal styling and sleek, super-straight hair that has been super on trend for the past couple of years and remains for 2018!
